Carole started in Labradors in Australia in 1967, “Basker” was a first anniversary present to her from husband David, and Basker’s nephew (bought the following year for him), started them off. Firstly in Obedience where they both gained titles and she and David passed their exams to be Obedience judges. They started to show a little down in Australia, and when they moved to Malaysia they became more bitten by the showing bug.
When they returned to England in mid 1974 they were well read, having consumed every Labrador book they could get their hands on, and knew the type of Labrador they wanted to own and breed. In the last 25 years we have made up a quarter of all the full Labrador Champions in the UK and have the only champion bitch with a KC Working Gundog Certificate.
In their two other breeds, German Shorthaired Pointers and Sussex spaniels, added 23 and 18 years ago respectively they have gained a further four champions, two in each breed with two more GSP bitches with CC’s. All Champions over the three breeds except the first GSP male have been home bred. Bringing their total of CC’s to 121 with 117 Reserves.
Until David retired two years ago he wasn’t as "hands on" as he would have liked due to working 75% of the year abroad, but he was always in the ring when ever he could be. All decisions about breeding and puppies was always a joint decision. Since his retirement he has taken over all the field training of the dogs and last winter we had 8 trained Labradors for him to choose from for his two days a week picking up in the season.
As construction is so important to Carole, she became a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer, going round giving lectures on "Confirmation & Movement" to aspiring judges, and now also the “Hands On” Judging Assessments - she also judges other breeds in the Gundog Group and awards CC’s in 21 Breeds, as well as awarding the Gundog Group at Championship Shows. She is on the top judging lists for American Cockers, Field Spaniels and Large
Munsterlanders, these being the only 3 Gundog breeds in the UK that she does not currently give CCs for but will be automatically approved for these when invited. |

Elaine & Phillip started showing Basset Hounds in 1958, and early in 1960 they saw a Miniature Pinscher and fell in love!! They also had Whippets for many years and showed and bred them very successfully.
They had some of the top winning Miniature Pinschers through 1960 - 1977 when they went to Papua New Guinea to work. The then Papua New Guinea Kennel Club, took on the Victoria system for judges training and over the years they both obtained their All Breeds status, however when they returned to Australia in 1989, the powers that be decided they
would have to start all over again, resulting in the fact that they are
now qualified to judge only the Groups 1, 6 and 7.
They have concentrated on their Miniature Pinschers, but have shown Pomeranians extensively, mostly for other people! Both have judged
throughout Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and of course
New South Wales. They have also judged in the Philippines and in NZ.

Anne-Marie's interest in the canine fancy began as a small child, growing up with her Grandmother's Scottish Terriers and later with working Australian Kelpies and Cattle Dogs on the family dairy farm.
In 1975 Anne-Marie, together with her late husband, had a chance meeting with a Basset Hound who very quickly became part of their family. Not long after that they were introduced to showing and breeding and so in 1976 their kennel
"Chakrata" was registered. They continued with Basset Hounds and in 1986, Pointers were introduced. Whippets are now the main breed at Chakrata having been an important part of the kennel since 1996.
Anne-Marie is licensed to judge Toys, Terriers, Gundogs, Hounds and Working Dogs, and is training to judge Non-Sporting and Utility dogs. She has had judging assignments in all states of Australia, New Zealand and Scandinavia for a variety of Specialty and Group appointments.

Peter's introduction to the dog world was at the age of eight when he started showing Dobermans with his Aunty, then progressed to handling Rottweilers. He showed these two breeds for a number of years then along came his love of long coats. He was a foundation member of the Shih Tzu Club of New South Wales. After showing Shih Tzu for only a short time his school commitments meant that he needed a break from showing. Due to his love of dogs he always managed to attend all the major shows as a spectator.
He then married and started his involvement with horses and moved to the United States of America.
After moving back to Australia he and his wife, Tricia (see above), started showing Maltese in 1986. After only a short time showing they were approached by Mistyhaven Kennels and asked to campaign a male for them. This dog was Mistyhaven Wata Boutme who went on to become one of the breed’s all time top winning dogs with over 30 Best In Shows to his credit.
