More familiarly known as Dinky amongst his peers, he was born in 1967 to a family of Bankers and animal lovers - a known SANTOS tradition which goes back to over a century and many generations. Dinky has been showing dogs for as long as he can remember. As early as 4 years of age, he would often accompany his Father to the dog shows. They owned a German Short Haired Pointer, Phil Ch Weidenbach B's Mac V Jove CDX (USA), who is, on record, the 1st Sporting Dog to win Best in Show in 1973 and the 1st dog in history to become a Philippine Champion and a Companion Dog on the same day. Together with his Father and siblings, he was also involved with Japanese Akitas, Bull Terriers, and German Shephered Dogs before personally getting engrossed with the Labrador Retriever in 1988. Dinky's SUNSHADOW LABRADOR RETRIEVERS is one of the main forces behind the success of the Philippine Labrador Retriever today. He campaigned the legendary Phil Grand Ch Driftway Truffle to become the PCCI?s #1 DOG for 1996, #5 for 1995 and #3 for 1997. He has owned, bred, andor campaigned more than 120 Champions, Grand Champions andor Hall of Fame Labrador Retrievers ? at least 70 of which are Sunshadow homebred. Sunshadow presently stands the #1 All-Breed ?Sire of Champions? in Philippine history in Phil Grand Ch Veyatie Driving Along CHUCK (UK) who, as of this writing, has sired forty-four (46) Champions both here and abroad. Dinky was awarded the distinction Life Member of the PCCI in 2005. He was the founding President of The Labrador Retriever Club Inc.(LRCI) back in 1994. He is a full-member of the prestigious Labrador Retriever Club (UK) and was bestowed Honorary Life Member of the Kennel Club of Pakistan. He is also currently a member of the General Committee of the Federacion Cynologique Internationale (FCI) Asia and the Pacific Section. He has been a Philippine delegate to the Asian Kennel Union Conferences in 2006, 2008 & 2010; Federecion Cynologique Internationale General Assemblies held in Mexico and Slovakia in 2007 & 2009 respectively ; FCI Asia and the Pacific Section Conference in Bangkok in 2007 & in Taiwan in 2009. He is a Board Member of both the Asia Kennel Union (AKU) & the FCI Asia and the Pacific Section. Dinky was appointed as the official FCI observer for the FCI Asia and the Pacific Section Show in Taiwan in 2009. And he was once again appointed to be the FCI observer for Section Show to be held in South Korea in 2011. He is presently a member of the FCI TASK FORCE which was formed in Bratislava. Dinky has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Philippine Canine Club since 2003. He has held the positions of Assistant Corporate Secretary (2003-2005), Corporate Secretary (2005) PRESIDENT and CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD simultaneously (2005-2008) and CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD (2008-2010). He is currently the CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD & PRESIDENT of the Philippine Canine Club. Dinky became licensed to judge ALL-BREEDS in 2011. He also attended the Japan Kennel Club Judges' Seminar in 2006 under Frank Sabella and Marybeth O?Neil. He has judged numerous shows around the Philippines, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, China, and Finland, and is scheduled to judge in Estonia, Latvia, and Japan in 2011.
