BOYD

, Mr Phil

IRELAND

  • KENNEL:

    Ballytain

Phil's father and elder brother had Wire Hair Fox Terriers & Bull Terriers when he was young; although he never had any in his own personal registration he was always involved in the exercising and preparation for showing. He attended many shows as a boy and eventually decided to have his own line of dogs as he matured. He wanted something that had similar temperament but had much more substance, and bought his first Bullmastiff from the late Sue Reynolds of Tartuffe Bullmastiffs. He is currently campaigning Roscoe 'Ardhub McCallen at BallyTain' bred by Lynn McGroarty of 'Ardhub BullMastiff's': 'Roscoe' is handled by hid close friend Sinead Taggart of 'Cooley Kennels'. Phil has had Bullmastiffs registered in his name from 30.11.98, has bred three litters, exported puppies to several countries and has had some of his own bred dogs made up to champion. He also owns, in partnership with his brother, a Mastiff bitch from the world famous Bulliff Kennels, who recently took BOB at the St. Stephens Day show on 27th December at her first outing. Phil recently wrote the Dogue De Bordeaux feature for the Nov-Jan issue of ICP and has been asked to write the Irish Chapter for Bas Bosch (BB Press) Bullmastiff World Annual. Plus he works part-time for Royal Canin as a health nutritionalist, where he advises breeders and the general public on the dietary needs of their dogs. Highly proactive in Bullmastiff, Mastiff and Dogue de Bordaeux breed clubs and an active member of both Non-Sporting Breed and Newtownards Canine Club's, show manager for the DDB Club of Ireland: Champion and Open shows, regularly steward at all levels, and writes breed notes for both Bullmastiffs and Mastiffs in Irish Canine Press.
