Laurane has been active in the dog world since 1964 when she purchased her first Miniature Pinscher. She enjoyed showing, but soon became interested in club work and in helping organise club shows and activities. She also became interested in writing and stewarding. This, of course, led to a growing interest in judging and in the early 70s she began judges' training. She has been an All Breeds judge for over 12 years. Over this period she also exhibited and bred successfully, Cocker Spaniels and Shih Tzu. She is currently breeding and showing Lhasa Apso and Tibetan Spaniels. She is still active in club activities and has over the years been secretary of the QKC, president of the Toy Club and president of the Beenleigh Kennel Club. During this period Laurane was also actively involved in starting the newly formed Asian Breeds Club of Queensland. Past member of the Waterloo Bay Kennel Club, the Maree Kennel Club and Ipswich Kennel Club. Apart from club activities she has also been assisting in judges' training (Assistant Coordinator Group 6) and makes herself available to assist in judges' examinations, both theory and hands-on. Since moving to the Darling Downs Laurane is now coordinator for judges training on the Darling Downs and active in the Allora Kennel Club and the Darling Downs Kennel Club and still helping with examinations for trainee judges. Laurane is a former journalist working both in television and newspapers and has had articles published in various magazines and has also been involved in the writing of a published history of Brisbane television. She still writes the occasional article for magazines. At one time she was the editor of the Queensland Dog World.
