Anders has owned dogs since 1940 - Drevers, Beagles, Dachshunds, Pointers, and Springer Spaniels. He was first licensed to judge at CC shows in 1955, and also licensed as a Field Trial Judge in 1950. Fluent in English, German and Spanish, he has judged at CC level in the Nordic countries, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Portugal, Italy, Switzerland, Estonia, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. He breeds horses, and hunts in his spare time.
