Rory and his wife Pat became involved with Great Danes in the early 1970's and have been breeding and showing ever since. They purchased their first Great Dane in 1975 and were blessed with a top show winning bitch and they were hooked. She went on to become the first Great Dane to win an All Breeds Best in Show in New Zealand, and obtain a dual Championship in NZ & Aust. Since that time they have imported 5 dogs from Sweden and semen from the USA. Over the years they have bred andor owned 35 champions both in New Zealand and Australia, whom between them have been awarded 25 Specialty Best & Runner Up Best in Show Awards & 27 All Breeds Best and RUp Best in Show Awards and New Zealand Great Dane Of The year 2001-2008. They had the first Great Dane bred in Australasia to be awarded the title of US Champion. In 2008 Congistador Great Danes took out Best in Group in both the Adelaide and Toowoomba Royals in Australia, Top winning Great Dane in Australia and New Zealand, and their kennel was awarded NZ Show Dogs 2008 All Breeds Kennel of the Year. Congistador is now the foremost Great Dane kennels in New Zealand. Rory first began judging in Western Australia where he was licenced to judge at Open Show level. He obtained his licence to judge and award CC's to Great Danes at Championship shows in 1992, and since then has judged Danes in Australia, Sweden and New Zealand, including the Queensland Great Dane Specialty and the Swedish Great Dane Clubs 45th Anniversary Show in 2008. Rory is also licenced to judge and award CC's in the Non-Sporting Group at Championship shows and Best in Show at All Breeds at Open show level. Rory has served as Vice President of the Western Australia Non Sporting & Utility dog club, President of the Great Dane Club in both Western Australia and New South Wales and also the Central North & South Island Non Sporting & Utility Club in New Zealand. He has also held executive positions with the Great Dane Club Inc in New Zealand.
