Maria-Luise is a well-respected English Cocker Spaniel breederspecialist judge. Her first dog, the English Cocker Spaniel "Sir Jackie of Hilltop", came to Maria-Luise in 1973 from Rosemary Charrington. The first litter in her kennel "vom Oesterreichring" was born in October 1975, and since then many successful dogs have been bred and shown by Maria-Luise. More than 70 English Cockers and Border Terriers bred andor owned by Maria-Luise became champions in different countries, 7 of them won BIS - the most prestigious win perhaps was BIS at the London Cocker Spaniel Society show with her Top Secret vom Oesterreichring, the first and so far only Austrian bred and owned English Cocker to be shown in the breed's country of origin. Confirmation shows are not Maria-Luise's only interest in dogs, some of her dogs also won or did very well in hunting trials, and many dogs from her kennel are successful at Companion, Agility, Obedience, Rescue and Tracking Tests. Since 1984 Maria-Luise has judged in Australia, Belgium, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Great Britain (Open and Championship Shows), Hungary, Ireland, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Russia, Ukraine, Yugoslavia, and Austria. During the last years she became Group judge for the FCI Group 8 (Spaniels, Retrievers, Water Dogs) and 10 (Sighthounds), and is now approved to judge 101 breeds from 8 different FCI groups. Her big love - besides the Spaniels - is Junior Handling, and she is one of the founders of these competitions in Austria. Maria-Luise is also a judge for obedience and companion dog tests. Maria-Luise is the chairman of the Styrian branch of the Austrian Spaniel Club (OeJSpK), committee member of the Austrian Spaniel Club for 25 years, and of the European Spaniel Association, vice-president of the Austrian Club for Junior Handlers, and is working actively as a trainer in their local dog training club.
