Izumi has bred and exhibited German Shepherd Dogs since 1980 and has been involved with breeding Siberian Huskies and Shiba Inus. He qualified as an All Breeds judge in 2002 and has judged in many parts of the world including Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, India, Singapore, Argentina, Netherlands, Italy, Slovakia, Portugal, Sweden, Germany, Poland and the World Dog Show in Mexico City. Izumi is Director of the Japan Kennel Club and enjoys scuba diving in his spare time.
