Whilst still living in England, she was involved with the Tiverton & Districts Canine Society, (Devon) and served as a committee member. Show-wise, her introduction to the showring was by assisting with the handling of three Setter breeds. She owned, exhibited and trialled, German Shepherd Dogs at this time. For some years before leaving England, she had already begun her association with Saluki enthusiasts. Since arriving in Australia in 1975, and to the present time, she has owned, showed and bred Salukis. She has owned, and showed Borzois, however, she has not owned Borzois since the mid eighties. She bred one litter in the early '80's. Mandy currently maintains her interest in the breed by occasionally show handling a Borzoi for a friend. During the late '70's she owned and exhibited Afghan Hounds, and handled Afghan Hounds for others. Personal firsts for the Saluki breed include being elected as the Inaugural President of the Saluki Club of WA, in 1977. In 1978, she became one of Australia's very first qualified Saluki Breeder-Judges by acquiring the Hound Group licence. In 1978, "Aust Ch. Farousi Sea Mist" became Western Australia's very first Best In Show winning Saluki (All Breeds Championship Show). In 1979, she brought in the States' first recognised overseas Saluki import, from the UK, "Seafleet Nimrod Farousi". "Farousi Salukis" are now found in many countries around the world. From 1990-94, Mandy served on the Trainee Judges Panel, a sub-committee of WA State governing body, which undertakes the organising of the breed lectures for each group or breed, along with the subsequent appraisals and examinations for novice judges. Her participation as an assessor and breed lecturer is ongoing. During 1995, she was elected to serve a term of office, as a Deputy on the Board of the Governing Council of WA State Governing Body, The Canine Association of Western Australia. C.A.W.A. as all other Australian State canine governing bodies, is affiliated to the Australian National Kennel Council, which itself in turn, is affiliated with the English Kennel Club, and the F.C.I. Over time she has qualified here in Australia, to award CC's to all breeds in Hounds (since 1978), Gundogs (since 1984) and Toys (since 1981). She prides herself on being the first overseas judge to be listed with the Northern Saluki Club (England). She is also on the overseas judges list for the SGHC (England). Her judging schedule, whilst not hectic is consistent. Her judging career now spans some 29 years with the emphasis on Sighthounds, and Salukis in particular. As above - In 1978 Mandy became a 'Panel Status' (Championship Show) judge able to award CC's for the whole of the Hound Group, and since that time she has judged throughout Australia, also judged Salukis and Afghans in England in December 1990. In October 2006, she judged in California, the Saluki Club of Greater San Francisco, Saluki Breed Speciality Mandy has not undertaken or accepted many judging appointments within Australia over the past 4 years, preferring to concentrate on exhibiting some very promising young homebred Salukis to their titles and having some fun in the ring. She has also recently shown one of her homebred boys to his Australian GRAND CHAMPION title.
