Tom bred and exhibited English Springer Spaniels for several years beginning in 1980 before becoming involved with German Shorthaired Pointers. Sandy began with Miniature Smooth Dachshunds in 1974 under the Longjohn Kennel name. After they were married they both began to use the "Thomashenry" prefix. Thomashenry kennel boasts well over 20 Best in Shows in four provinces, number one GSP in Canada in 1986, 87, 88, 90, 91, 95 and 96 with several dogs placing in the top five other years. In 1988 their dogs set a new record for the breed, placing #3 in the top ten Sporting dogs that year. In 1990, 92, 95 and 96 their dogs finished in the top ten sporting. Thomashenry has produced many Canadian specialty winners, as well as over 200 group wins with at least seven different dogs. This kennel bred the number one obedience GSP in 1990 and 91. Thomashenry dogs have won multiple Sporting groups in the USA. These dogs have won many specialties there including the National Futurity and Best of Winners at the American National Specialty in 2000. In South America the all time top winning GSP, number one Sporting Dog with 21 Best In Shows, number three all breeds in 1992 was bred by Thomashenry Kennels. The only GSP ever to win the Sporting Group at the World Show, May 1992 was a Thomashenry dog, as was the youngest GSP ever to finish in the USA in 2005. This kennel has produced Champions in six countries. They also have had number One Miniature Long-haired Dachshund in 2007, #3 in 2006, #2 in 2005 and #4 in 1994 and 1995 as well as two of the very few Mini-Longs to ever win an all breed Best In Show. They believe their "Austin" is the only Mini-Long in Canada to ever have won a reserve Best in Show in Canada. Their Dachshunds have been Specialty winners and multiple group winners. They are currently concentrating on continuing on with their Mini-long Dachshund line and have also added Standard Smooth Dachshunds to their dogs and currently have a group and Specialty winner American and Canadian Champion. Tom and Sandy both handled professionally in Canada for many years, some top winning Sporting, Hound, Working, Toy and Herding dogs. They have bred German Shorthaired Pointers, Springer Spaniels, BIS, BISS - Siberian Huskies, Miniature Long haired Dachshunds, BIS, BISS - Pembroke Welsh Corgi's and Shelties. They have also owned BIS - Miniature Poodles, Chow Chows and Labrador Retrievers. Both are Canadian Kennel Club licensed judges. Tom is a licensed All Breed Judge. She has judged in the USA and Australia as well as Canada, and has judged Dachshund Specialties. Tom has judged in Indonesia, Hong Kong , Iceland, USA, Canada , New Zealand and Australia. and is on the board of Directors for Mid Canada Dog Shows. He has judged Sporting Dog Specialties in both Canada and the USA, the Canadian German Shorthaired Pointer National Specialty, the Clumber Spaniel National Specialty (Can.), the Sporting Dog Spectacular as well as several German Shorthaired Pointer Specialties in the USA. Sandy is licensed to judge the Hound and Herding Groups, plus she is on permit for half of the Working breeds Thomashenry Kennel was named after Tom's Dad who bred Irish Water Spaniels and English Springer's for many years.
