Ann Dahlberg Hearn has been involved in the sport of purebred dogs since November, 1957, beginning with Terriers and Non-Sporting breeds. A native southerner from Atlanta, GA, Ann bred dogs under the Jalwin kennel name. She has breed Best in Show, Group and BISS winners, and has finished many different breeds. She has been a judge since February, 1984 and has judged all over the U.S. She has also judged in many foreign countries including Australia, Russia, South Africa, England, Italy, Sweden, and Finland. Served as an executive committee member of the Bichon Frise Club of America, the Greater Atlanta Fox Terrier Club (founder), Atlanta Kennel Club, and Kennesaw Kennel Club, Sawnee Mountain Kennel Club and is a member of Lawrenceville Kennel Club. She is the SecretaryTreasurer of the Judges Association of GA, Inc. (founder), and secretary of the Dog Judges Association of America, Inc. Ann is the AKC Gazette columnist for both Wire Fox Terriers and Bichon Frise's. She has been editor of the American Fox Terrier Club Newsletter, Atlanta Kennel Club Digest, Bichon Frise Club of America Bulletin and various other publications. She has been published in many dog magazines and has written several dog books, published by TFH Publications, Inc., about Bichons, Smooth Fox Terriers and Wire Fox Terriers. She feels it is important she give back as much as she has received from the dog game and has developed and presented many educational forums for judges to help them better understand breeds and thereby become better judges.
