, Mr Maurice Gauteng,

SOUTH AFRICA

  • KENNEL:

    Shemaur

Maurice, originally from the UK, but resident in South Africa for over 20 years, has been judging for over 40 years and has judged extensively throughout the world. He started judging in 1966 and since then has judged most breeds at specialist club level, also has judged Best in Show over 140 times. Apart from Shelties, Chinese Cresteds and Poms, he has also owned Border Collies, Chow Chows, Scotties and Rough Collies. He particularly likes judging the Hound Group. The most memorable show was judging Shetland Sheepdogs at the Crufts Centenary show, and perhaps the most unusual place he has judged is Hammerfest, which was quite an experience. Maurice serves on the South African Judges Committee of the Kennel Union, is Chairman of an all-breeds club and of Toy Dog Breeders Association. He is the author of the book Shetland Sheepdogs Today that was published in 1988.
