Kiko first became involved in breeding and exhibiting in 1957, and in 1963 he became licensed as a Trainer for the Japan German Shepherd Dog Association (Judicial Corporation). In 1964 he was licensed as a Trainer for Nippon Police Dog Association Inc. and in 1971 he became an All Breeds Judge. He has been the President of the Tokyo Shih Tzu Club and the Tokyo Companion Dog Club, a Councillor of the Japan Kennel Club Inc. and President of the Tokyo Block Judges Council. Kiko has bred and exhibited German Shepherds, Shih Tzu, Pekingese, Shiba Inu, Doberman Pinschers, Boxers, and Miniature Dachshunds. In spite of his busy judging schedule, Kiko spends several hours a week on the telephone at the JKC giving members advice on dog care. He also lectures eleven hours weekly to 240 students at a Dog Grooming School, and on weekends he gives private lessons in obedience and conformation show training. A well-respected and popular judge worldwide, Kiko has judged extensively throughout Japan, Singapore, New Zealand, Canada, USA, Thailand, India, Italy (World Show), Philippines, Taiwan, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, South Africa, Russia and Australia (45 times, including the Royal Melbourne Show in 1980 and 1997). In addition to numerous All-Breeds show assignments, he has judged Specialty Shows for the following breeds: Afghan Hound, Beagle, Borzoi, Boxer, Cocker Spaniel (American), Collie, Dachshund, Doberman Pinscher, German Shepherd, Golden Retriever, Great Dane, Great Pyrenees, Jack Russell Terrier, Japanese Chin, Miniature Pinscher, Miniature Schnauzer, Papillion, Pekingese , Pomeranian, Poodle (Toy), Pug, Rottweiler, Shih Tzu, Shetland Sheepdog, Siberian Husky, Welsh Corgi (Pembroke), Yorkshire Terrier. He speaks reasonable English.
