UNITED KINGDOM

  • KENNEL:

    Myriehewe

Irene, along with her sister Gwen owns the Myriehewe Shetland SheepdogsRough Collies kennel. She has been breeding and showing Shetland Sheepdogs for 36yrs and within that time has owned or bred 14 English champions, 7 overseas champions , numerous CC & many RCC winners. Their most famous champion, Ch. Myriehewe Rosa Bleu was winner of the old style working group at Crufts two years running, Dog World Top Dog (all breeds) in 1995, breed record holder and many BIS RBIS all breeds and Club shows, throughout her career. Irene judged her first show in 1977 at the age of 18; she judged her first breed open show in 1983 and awarded her first CC in 1987. Since then she has been lucky enough to judge over 2,500 dogs at championship show level & International CACIB shows including having the honour of judging Crufts in the Millennium year. The international shows have taken her to 7 countries where she has met some fabulous people who have since become very good friends. She is a kennel club assessor which she takes very seriously as she believes people coming into the breed and stepping up to judging should have someone to be there for help and guidance. She was lucky when she started to have some famous breeders from yesteryear take time to help her, and her aim is to be able to pass on similar help and guidance to others. Away from the dog scene, Irene's job is as an accountant.
